Wish Upon a
Smile, a local Bucerias/Puerto Vallarta program under the International
Friendship Club, 501/C, was founded in 1987.
The IFC is the sponsor foundation for Children and Families in need. The Club is
a volunteer organization operated totally without personal gain.
They have been granted Registered Charitable Status by the Mexican Government.
The Club is also operated on a community structured basis.
The Cleft Palate program, formally
began in 1991, although the work actually began in 1987. Now officially 18 years
old, the program provides the following for the children in the Bay of
Banderas area in Mexico
Medical / Hospital

free cleft palate surgery

follow-up hospital care

orthodontics
-
speech and other therapy
-
corrective eye, ear, bone surgery

burn treatment
-
Free Medication to needy patients
of all ages Regional Hospital

Medical assistance for disaster
victims (flood, fire, etc)

This incredible quarterly surgical program survives on as little as
$50,000. a year. You can help by donating all or part of their needs in the form
of money or services.
Presently for the May 2008 Surgical Program

$1500. US
dollars are needed for airfare for the Voluntary Medical Team from
Guadalajara to Puerto Vallarta.

$1200. US
dollars are needed for brochure design and printing services to attract
additional local and/or international Sponsors.

Computers are
needed to organize the multiple patient files surgical schedules and follow
up procedures. All documentation is presently being hand written.
