kilometers north along hwy 200 from Puerto Vallarta,

The beach is lined
with one colorful vendor after another, offering tempting barbequed shrimp,
whole fish and other deep sea delicacies, shish ka bobbed for easy consumption.

The
playful Pelicans are plentiful and will keep you entertained as they
torment the vendors, who keep one eye on them while serving their
multiple customers. Your purchase may often be interrupted by the
vendor having to chase the pesky birds away with beach rakes; as
they are relentless in thieving the tempting "alimento rico".

| Two streets run
parallel to the beach and are lined with cafés, restaurants with live
entertainment, gift shops and modest bungalows. There are multiple
accommodations, including Beach Front Hotels, all inclusive resorts and vacation
rentals. |
The town of
Guayabitos is good size and offers most of what is necessary to prolong your
stay. It would be wise to be a bit more fluent in Spanish than is required
in most of the other towns along the Pacific coastline, even though you are a
welcome tourist, and there are many US and Canadian citizens visiting and living
here, this is truly Mexico.
The two-mile long
beach offers jet skiing, wind surfing, snorkeling, kayaking, and fishing, and
boat rides with lunch trips to the offshore island can be found at the
south end of the beach.
The north end
lined with luxurious hotels and oceanfront mansions, is not quite as crowded.
There are local buses that will take you on a ten minute drive to the
neighboring town of La Penita, where you can purchase numerous items at the
local markets.
Every year
in February the town of Rincon de Guayabitos celebrates the Tournament of Sport
Fishing of the Sail Fish.
Directions From Puerto Vallarta Airport
Directions from Puerto Vallarta International Airport, to Rincon de Guayabitos,
in the state of Nayarit, Mexico.
Go left ( north ) from the airport. You will cross over the river Rio de Ameca,
at this point you have left the state of
Jalisco and are in the state of
Nayarit.
Be sure to turn your watches back one hour, as you are leaving the central time zone and
are now on Mountain Time. Upon your return remember, Puerto Vallarta is
on Central time.
You will be driving north on Federal Highway 200. About an 1 1/2 hour drive from
the airport to Guayabitos. Along your travels you will pass through
Bucerias, about 20 minutes north and also passed
San Pancho, about 45 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta.
