Real Estate
Lake City Images and more information Lake City has a total area of 0.9 square miles. It is also known to
many Colorado 14er "peakbaggers" as the jump-off point for 5 of
Colorado's 53 ranked 14,000' peaks - Sunshine, Redcloud, Handies,
Wetterhorn, and Uncompahgre.
Silver Thread Scenic Byway
The
Silver Thread, 120 miles long, begins at Blue Mesa
Reservoir,
and travels through sagebrush country, and winds along the Lake Fork of
the Gunnison River. You will continue over two mountain passes, across
the Continental Divide, and follows the Rio Grande River.
You can take your time exploring this byway, as it has many features to
offer, the towns of Lake City and Creede are only a few. You can stop
and explore landmarks rich in Colorado history.

Alpine Loop Backcountry Byway
The Alpine Loop is narrow, twisty and unpaved. A 4 wheel drive vehicle
is required to travel Cinnamon and Engineer pass . This scenic byway is
at the heart of the San Juan Mountains.
Lake
San Cristobal
The second largest natural lake in Colorado, with depths of up to 60
feet; provides many fun filled activities. There are accommodations and
lodging right along the lake shore, as well as a small convenience store
and boat rentals.
Wuperman Campground a public camping area is located on the east side of
the lake at 9000 ft; accommodating RV;s and tents. There is no
electricity here and the nightly fees are approximately $15.
The Red Mountain Gulch Day Use Area for small picnics, is located on the
south end of the lake on County Road 30, close to the marshy end of the
lake. This is great for bird watching and other wildlife viewing.
There are picnic tables and grills, plus a pavilion shelter with
a large outdoor cooking grill for larger gatherings.
Restrooms are only available seasonally.
